About the authors & artist

Two women united by the wish to accompany others in healing, and an artist whose serene figures give the journey its quiet, human face.

“We are two women united by the wish to accompany others on their path of healing. We believe that writing, feeling, and looking inward can open a door toward peace.”

Coralee Quintana

Author · Psychology & child development

Coralee authored this journal after raising three daughters — who first inspired her to write. She began with small booklets addressing her children's needs: How to Survive a Breakup for her youngest daughter, and Quips for Pregnancy for her middle daughter.

She earned a Bachelor's in Psychology with a focus on Child Development from the University of New Mexico, minoring in Religious Studies, along with a dual Master's in International Management (MBA) and Latin American Studies (MA).

Professionally, she directed early-childhood programs and conducted research on intervention efficacy for at-risk families through UNM's School of Medicine. She taught parenting classes and provided developmental-specialist services across several programs. Today she works as a commercial real estate broker in California and New Mexico. After the hardship of the pandemic, she shares her words of comfort with the world.

about the artist

Guilloume

Guilloume practices “bolismo”, expressing human emotions through simple forms, textures, and movement — from the most complex feelings to the most simple.

Born in Colombia in 1957, he devoted himself to art from a very young age and completed his studies at the Institute of Fine Arts in 1981. He creates in oil, watercolor, pastel, pencil, ink, and in bronze and stone sculpture. His work breathes humanity, joy, sorrow, fear, and hope.

He maintains his studio and gallery in Sandia Park, near Santa Fe, New Mexico, where his serene figures continue to invite contemplation. His illustrations give Embracing Life its quiet, tender companionship.
